The UNIGLAS® laboratory is a central facility within the UNIGLAS® network, committed to the highest testing standards, modern measurement technology and reliable quality assurance. It has been supporting the shareholders with extensive internal testing services relating to glass, safety and product performance for many years. From 2026, the laboratory is expanding its remit and also offering its services to external companies.
Testing expertise to meet the highest demands
Modern insulating glass units are complex construction products that have to fulfil a broad range of requirements. The UNIGLAS® lab test in accordance with EN 1279-4 and -6 for insulating glass looks at the physical attributes of the edge seal components (spacer, sealant, desiccant) and not primarily the tightness itself, which is tested based on Part 2 (moisture penetration) and Part 3 (gas leakage); Part 4 defines test procedures for ageing, mechanical strength and component properties in order to ensure the durability of the entire system, as required for CE marking.
Service for shareholders – fast, reliable and practical
The laboratory works closely with the technical committee and production sites. It uses short distances, rapid evaluations and practical recommendations to help UNIGLAS® shareholders constantly monitor and improve their quality standards. This makes it possible to efficiently test and optimise internal product developments.
From 2026: testing services also available to external companies
Opening up the UNIGLAS® laboratory to external market participants significantly expands the remit of the services. From 2026, other insulating glass producers, finishing companies, architectural firms and construction companies are able to use the professional testing infrastructure. This has the benefit of independent measurement results, tested safety and transparent evidence as to the quality of glass products.
Whether for product validation purposes, tender documents or certification processes, the UNIGLAS® laboratory is becoming a highly qualified partner for the entire glass industry.
