Welcome to the UNIGLAS® Uw calculator.

This tool enables you to easily calculate the Uw value (heat transmittance coefficient of a window) in a comprehensible manner. Simply complete the input fields step by step.

How to use the Uw calculator:

  1. Start by deciding whether you would like to perform a calculation using predefined frame profiles and glazing designs or to enter all values manually.
  2. Select spacer: choose the suitable spacer for your window from the list. This influences the thermal performance.
  3. Enter the window frame material and associated characteristic values. This information is important for the subsequent thermal insulation.
  4. Select the desired glazing. Different glass structures change the overall energy value of the window.
  5. Specify the width and height of the window. Also choose whether it is a single or double-leaf window. The dimensions are directly incorporated into the calculation.
  6. If using predefined values for the calculation, you can specify the internal and external temperature. The internal temperature is set to 20 °C and the external temperature to -10 °C by default.
  7. If your window contains sash bars, select whether they are glass-dividing or in the cavity.

Understanding the result

Once all details have been provided, the tool will automatically calculate the Uw value. This value shows the quality of thermal insulation provided by the window as a whole: the lower the Uw value, the better the insulation effect.

With just a few entries, you therefore obtain a clear and comprehensible estimate of your window quality in energy terms.
